Florida Certified Bridge Inspector/NBIS Qualified Bridge Inspection Team Leader

Individual shall be a FDOT-Certified Bridge Inspector or NBIS qualified licensed Florida Professional Engineer to apply for this position. Candidates will be a self-motivated, possess strong leadership skills and have past experience inspecting bridges and ancillary structures. Technical writing skills as well as knowledge of current FDOT bridge inspection standards and practices are required. Familiarity and experience with Element level inspection coding and climbing skills are a plus. Must possess a valid driver’s license with a good driving record. Will be required to work around live traffic and at heights. Must have the ability to travel weekly within Florida and Georgia. Typical blend of the position is 70% field/30% office.
Physically the candidate must be able to climb, swim and lift/move up to 50lbs.
The candidate will act as an inspection team leader responsible for directing inspection activities of team of individuals conducting routine bridge inspections. This individual will be responsible for performing NBIS bridge inspections to FHWA and state requirements, BrM/BMS (AASHTO Element) coding, identifying bridges for load ratings, identifying and reporting critical findings, QA/QC reviews and report documentation, and assisting in planning and scheduling of bridge inspections. May supervise or coordinate the work of other Certified Bridge Inspector’s and bridge inspection assistants.
Presence at project assignment is necessary to fulfill the requirements of the position.
