The Archer Western/deMoya BCC Team, in association with KCA, was selected for the Gateway Expressway Design-Build project!
The Archer Western/deMoya BCC Team, in association with KCA, was the low bidder for FDOT District Seven’s $545 million Gateway Expressway Design-Build (D/B) project. The Team also received the highest score and had the lowest number of contract days. Gateway Expressway is the most significant transportation project in Pinellas County since the expansion of US 19. The Gateway Expressway project is a critical part of the Tampa Bay Area’s growing transportation network. The project will provide much needed limited and controlled access connections from CR 611 (Bayside Bridge) on the north side, US 19 on the west side, and the St. Pete Clearwater International Airport to I-275. It will provide a faster, safer, and more convenient travel experience for long trip commuters as well as relieve the local roadway network in the Gateway area. The project also includes the first section of Tampa Bay’s Next Network by constructing the initial segment of the Express Lanes on I-275. The Gateway Express project has been under development for nearly 30 years as smaller individual projects and will finally come to fruition under this contract. Overall project improvements include upgraded interchanges and grade separations with new ramps, bridges, and flyovers; enhancements to arterial surface roads; various intersection renovations; and utility improvements.
KCA will provide maintenance of traffic (MOT), roadway and structures design, drainage, and signing and pavement marking services for this fast-paced expansive project. With award of this contract, it will be among one of KCA’s largest D/B projects to date.
Congrats to the entire project team and all KCA departments staff involved. A big thanks to all that helped with the preparation of this major proposal and the marketing efforts that contributed to this win!
