KCA selected for St. Lucie County Old Dixie Highway Bridge and East Coast Greenway Trail Project
KCA received good news this summer as it was selected for the Replacement of the Old Dixie Highway Bridge over Taylor Creek and East Coast Greenway Trail project for St. Lucie County. This win signifies the first-ever KCA contract win with St. Lucie County.
This project involves design and permitting services to replace the structurally deficient Old Dixie Highway Bridge over Taylor Creek (No. 940029), which is adjacent to the FEC railway Brightline/Virgin Trains USA expansion to dual tracks. The project also involves design of a 10-foot-wide shared-use path on the east side of Old Dixie Highway as well as milling and resurfacing from Sunny Lane to US 1.
For this successful pursuit, KCA teamed with subconsultants F.R. Aleman and Associates, Inc. (surveying and mapping, utility coordination; subsurface utility engineering [SUE]) and Tierra South Florida, Inc. (geotechnical/contamination).
The KCA team is led by Project Manager (PM), Deborah Hernández, PE, and Deputy PM/Structures EOR, Sarah Wilson, PE. This will be Deborah’s first project management role.
KCA has been designing bridges and dedicated pedestrian and bicycle facilities since 1976. Within the past 15 years, KCA has completed more than 30 multi-use trails and pedestrian facilities and completed hundreds of bridge and structures reconstruction and rehabilitation design projects.
Congrats to the entire team including Deborah Hernández, PE; Sarah Wilson, PE; Carlos Layrisse, PE; Tara Spieler, PE; Robert Whitman; and Fathy Abdalla, Ph.D., PE, PTOE; A big thanks to all that helped with the marketing efforts that contributed to this win!
