KCCS Wins City of St. Petersburg 40th Avenue NE Bridge Replacement CEI LAP Project
KCCS, Inc. (KCCS) received great news in July after being selected by the City of St. Petersburg for the 40th Avenue NE Bridge Replacement Construction Engineering and Inspection (CEI) Local Agency Program (LAP) project. The win adds yet another CEI LAP project win for KCCS in 2020.
This FDOT LAP-funded project involves CEI and materials testing services for the replacement of the 40th Avenue NE Bridge over Placido Bayou in St. Petersburg. The project replaces the existing 40th Avenue NE Bridge with the project limits extending from 12th Avenue NE to west of 13th Way NE (0.15 miles). The new bridge will accommodate two lanes of traffic, bicycle lanes, raised sidewalks, and a raised median. The bridge will be constructed with six spans of Florida Slab Beams supported by 24-inch pile bents with the bridge approach embankments supported by sheet pile walls. The bridge will incorporate the City of St. Petersburg’s Standard Open Window Railing and Decorative Lighting.
KCCS is teaming with Covalt Group, Inc., who will provide a Resident Compliance Specialist to manage the LAP reimbursement process and documentation; Echezabal and Associates, Inc., for surveying and mapping; and Tierra, Inc., for all laboratory and materials testing services.
The KCCS team is led by Senior Project Engineer (SPE), Kellie Loper, PE. He has 18 years of invaluable experience in the CEI industry working in various roles including Inspector Aide, Inspector, Senior Inspector/CSS, Project Engineer, and SPE. His CEI experience includes inspection and oversight of all aspects of asphalt, concrete, earthwork, drainage, structures, and major bridge operations. This project will be managed from the KCCS Corporate Headquarters in Tampa.
Congratulations to the pursuit team including Kellie Loper, PE; Stoney Morgado; and Dewey Martin, PE. A big thanks to all that helped with the preparation of the proposal and the marketing efforts that contributed to this win!
