North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) tasked KCA with designing the replacement of 28 spans of the Oak Island Bridge. The design consisted of full length deck overlay, retrofitting the barrier rail, cathodic protection of the substructure, resurfacing of the approach, guardrail updates, and local road resurfacing. KCA worked closely with NCDOT and the contractor to ensure that all work was completed within the 6-month bridge closure deadline.
