KCA was awarded a bridge evaluation and rehabilitation project in District Two for three bridges including SR A1A over Hospital Creek, SR 5 over Oyster Creek, and SR 13 over the St. Johns River (the Acosta Bridge). Planned work consists of the development of construction plans and specifications for pile jackets, deck sealing, concrete restoration, and an impressed current cathodic protection system for the substructure of the Hospital Creek Bridge; replacement of the fender and catwalks of the Acosta Bridge with new composite materials, as well as replacement of its navigational and decorative pier lights; and a structural and hydraulic study for the Oyster Creek culvert determining suitable repair and replacement alternatives and associated costs provided with a final recommendation. A supplemental agreement may also be provided for the ultimate repair or replacement of the Oyster Creek culvert. In addition to the work noted involving structures and hydraulics staff, roadway and environmental staff will be a vital part of the team for important maintenance of traffic and permitting needs.
