KCA was recently selected by the North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) to perform CEI services for the I-85 Widening project (TIP I-3802A) in Cabarrus and Rowan Counties. The widening of I-85 will add four additional travel lanes from north of NC 73 in Cabarrus County to US 29-601 Connector in Rowan County. Interchange improvements, including reconstruction of existing structures to meet current design standards for vertical clearance, are proposed at US 29-601, Dale Earnhardt Boulevard, and Lane Street. The I-85 Widening project will involve grading, widening, drainage, concrete paving, signals, culverts, retaining wall, structures, and signing. KCA will provide technicians to perform construction inspection, materials sampling, materials testing, claims avoidance, documentation of pay quantities, monitoring of environmental protection and sediment and erosion control, and project safety compliance.
Our services will be performed under the direction of NCDOT project personnel, who will be in direct control and have responsibility for the management of the CEI and contract administration for these projects. KCA will support the management and staff of NCDOT and ensure the project is constructed in total compliance with approved plans, specifications, and related contract documents, serving as an extension of NCDOT staff.
