This project consisted of widening a six-lane interstate to eight lanes and reconstructing the interchange at US 301. The project length is 4 miles, and interchange modifications involved reconstruction of the partial cloverleaf (parclo) to a diamond interchange. The project included a 4,000-foot-long bridge over the Manatee River, and two additional 1,000-foot-long structures over Salt Marsh were also widened. This project included preparing an IMR that analyzed traffic operations and capacity analyses for different interchange configurations. The Synchro Studio (Synchro plus SimTraffic) and CORSIM microsimulation models were developed and validated. The IMR was approved by FDOT and Federal Highway Administration (FHWA).
