This project includes both the PD&E study and design of an extension of Lakewood Ranch Boulevard from the east side of I-75 to the west side by constructing a bridge over I-75, connecting to Cattleman Road. The project is located south of University Boulevard and north of Fruitville Road in Sarasota County. The facility will be a four-lane divided roadway with curb and gutter, bike lanes, and sidewalks. This overpass, to the south of University Town Center, will provide a vital link that bypasses University Parkway, and provides connectivity to Fruitville Road. The PD&E phase of the project includes the assessment of potential impacts to the natural, physical, and human environment resulting from the construction of the proposed overpass, as well as public involvement tasks. Key issues include anticipated changes in the traffic patterns and volumes along University Boulevard and Fruitville Road and ensuring the overpass provides adequate space for the future ultimate buildout of I-75. For the design phase of the project, the KCA team is providing roadway, structures, and drainage design, along with environmental analysis and permitting, survey and R/W mapping, and geotechnical engineering services.
