KCA designed a 0.7-mile extension of New Tampa Boulevard to bridge I-75 and connect southward to Commerce Boulevard. The purpose of the improvement was to provide a direct connection to Liberty Middle School and Freedom High School, City of Tampa parks, and other local businesses and residences. Sidewalks and pedestrian connections ensured safe passage along the roadway and across the I-75 bridge.
The project included extensive landscaping and aesthetic features developed with input from local residents and students. KCA developed an intensive public involvement plan where engineers and landscape architects met with numerous homeowners associations individually or in small groups. The groups were provided an opportunity to submit sketches and other input into the project in workshop-type settings. The project incorporated landscape and hardscape features, multi-use paths, a sidewalk, and ADA facilities. KCA’s Stormwater Engineers were responsible for designing the stormsewer system and stormwater management facility and obtaining the FDOT Drainage Connection Permit.
