This project involved milling and resurfacing 1 mile of a four-lane rural roadway and adding LED street lighting, a new signalized intersection, and fiber-optic communication cables. Several LED lighting configurations have been examined to produce the most economical lighting alternative. ATBL and Mongoose lighting fixtures were analyzed with different heights and spacing to optimize the photometric results of illuminating the mainline and signalized intersections. The power source to the light fixtures at the signalized intersections was designed to match the existing signal controller power source. Two lighting fixtures were attached to the same signal strain poles to meet the required intersection illumination level.
