60th Avenue East; Buffalo Road; and Intersection Reconstruction at 69th Street East and Mendoza Road

KCA was selected by Manatee County to provide design services for roadway reconstruction along the undivided 60th Avenue East corridor and the extension of Buffalo Road. The segment along 60th Avenue East will need to be widened to accommodate additional auxiliary lanes within very limited R/W. A lift station is to be relocated within the same corridor, and a large box culvert is to be extended to accommodate the roadway improvements. The segment along Buffalo Road will require new horizontal and vertical geometry that will cross an environmentally sensitive site to be permitted and mitigated, and the new typical section will need to tie into the dead-end section coming south from 69th Street East. The design along this segment will need to accommodate future widening for roadway expansion due to the new subdivisions being built along the corridor. Intersection improvement work at Mendoza Road and at 69th Street East will be required to accommodate the future predicted traffic demand. These projects are needed to follow a very aggressive schedule and require close coordination with subconsultants, internal disciplines, and County personnel.
