I-75 at US 301 Interchange, Conceptual Plans/RFP Assistance

This 4-mile-long KCA project consists of widening a six-lane interstate to eight lanes and construction of major modifications to the interchange. The interchange modifications involve reconstruction of the partial cloverleaf to a diamond interchange. This requires two new 3,500-foot-long structures for the diamond interchange to span the Manatee River. Two additional 1,500-foot-long structures over Salt Marsh will also be widened. All stormwater is being treated within the existing right-of-way (R/W) and the stormwater treatment for the interchange was designed for the ultimate condition. KCA was selected by FDOT District One as the prime consultant and provided design, plans, and permits up to the 90% submittal phase. Just prior to submitting 90% plans, FDOT converted this conventional design-bid-build project into a design-build project. KCA was rescoped to develop the RFP for the design-build (D/B) proposal and to serve as the Owner’s Representative to assist FDOT through the design-build procurement process. This included writing the RFP, attending Alternative Technical Concepts (ATCs) meetings, page turn meetings, and assisting with the review of all submittal documents.
