U-6157: Modernization of Cajah Mountain Road (SR 1130) from Connelly Springs Road to US 321-A, Caldwell County, NC

This 3.4-mile roadway modernization project consists of improving multimodal connectivity in a rural town setting by adding bike lanes, sidewalks, and a multi-use path in addition to widening the travel lanes and improving the design speed. The purpose and need for the project primarily involves safety improvements due to existing crash patterns in some sections of the corridor. KCA is performing all aspects of the roadway design as well as stormwater design, erosion control, utility coordination, Work Zone Traffic Control (WZTC), signing and pavement marking design (S&PM), and signal design. The KCA team delivered the Design Recommendation Plan Sets (DRPS) in April 2022 and will deliver right-of-way (R/W) and final plans as part of our Division 11 PDSC.
